We’re still stuck in Bangkok!!
We planned to leave a few days ago but there is a delay with the processing of customs paperwork for our motorcycle. The official line being that a ‘dangerous goods certificate’ is still to be issued by the Thai authorities. We’ve been told it should all be completed by tomorrow, [...]

We will be in Bangkok for almost a week.
While here, we are applying for a visa to Mongolia and organising for the transport of our motorcycle to Fukuoka (Japan).
Departure to Japan is planned for 25 May 2008.

The remainder of our time in Kampong Cham is spent resting, doing laundry and working on the bike - this includes scrubbing sticky clay off the chain and replacing the front brake pads, which wore quickly in the mountains of Thailand and Laos.
We also stumble on a local village wedding celebrated in ‘western style’.

Leaving Chiang Mai we headed east to Nan, about 300km away. This was a relatively flat section, so we arrived early and even had time to give the bike a [...]

With just under 3000km covered in 9 days, it was time to take a rest.
We spent the first full day in Chiang Mai sightseeing, catching up on emails, blgging, eating and drinking the local beer - Chang. We also began planning the routes that we would cover in the areas surrounding Chinag Mai.
We decided to [...]

Hat Yai (60km north of the Malaysia-Thailand border) was a pre-determined stop us. Here we planned to change our uncomfortable Honda ‘bench’ seat to a more butt friendly ‘king and queen’ styled seat.
Why Hat Yai and not Singapore? Two reasons: 1.The quality of one particular shop was well known in Singapore & 2.The price. Customization [...]
